A charter bus in Philadelphia can help ensure that you and your group travel comfortably and safely to any destination you want.

The Eastern State Penitentiary is where some of the world’s most famous criminals were jailed, including Al Capone and Willie Sutton. While still in operation, the penitentiary was supposed to be instrumental in bringing prisoners to repent and become more spiritual, but what happened instead was abuse and torture of the prisoners.

Today, the prison lies in ruins and is open to the public. It is now a museum that holds various exhibits. What attracts people to visit the site is mainly its architecture. The prison was built in the 1820s by architect John Haviland.

Day Tours

You could visit the prison every day from 10 am to 5 pm and you will be taken on a guided tour that is narrated by Steve Buscemi. You could see the prison cells and even get a feel of how prisoners lived day to day inside the prison walls.

There are also different events and exhibits at different times of the year. For example, they have Terror Behind the Walls every Halloween, which delights visitors with a haunted house type of walkthrough.

Terror Behind the Walls is also available at different times of the year.

There are also times when art exhibits are held within the prison. For example, sculptor Linda Brenner mounted an exhibit that depicted the cats that died when the prison was closed more than four decades ago. There is also Dayton Castleman’s The End of the Tunnel exhibit that tells visitors about the path that was used by prisoners who tried to escape. These art exhibits tell more of the history of the prison and its inmates.

So why don’t you gather all your friends and family on a charter bus in Philadelphia and go on a daytime tour at the Eastern State Penitentiary!
